Mission
The Madison Studio of Dance Education is primarily a ballet school that strives to teach students, through all dance forms, to cultivate respect for the art of dance and how art can better enrich our lives. Through a variety of classes we strive to create a community of empowerment, self-discipline, self-expression, compassion, and joy. We strive for quality dance education that is accessible for all ages.
Registration
New students for the 2025-2026 dance year may be accepted from March 1, 2025 through December 1, 2025. To register, visit madisondance.com and follow the parent portal prompts. Enrollment is not complete until the $25 registration fee has been paid. For questions regarding classes and levels, email [email protected] or [email protected]. 2024-2025 MSDE Dancers have registration priority through June 1st, 2025.
Placement
We are unique in that every year we adapt and update our schedule and syllabus based on the students that are enrolled. Some of the factors included are age, skill level, level of previous training(if applicable), number of classes taken, respect, attendance, ability to apply corrections, strength, technical mastery, and goals. Age and school grade is merely a guide for placement, not an absolute. Placement is typically made on a yearly basis, but advancement can be made by staff appointment when deemed appropriate.
Attendance and Makeup Classes
Attendance is so important in dance. Absences can result in injury and excessive absences can affect advancement to the next level. Missing classes requires a dancer to make-up and catch up on required terminology and/or choreography. Make-up classes can be taken at the same level or lower. Please contact Ms. Jane or Ms. Faith for recommendations. Dance is an individual AND team-oriented discipline.
Withdrawal Policy
If withdrawal from the studio is wished to be made, a 60-day written (note or e-mail) notice to the Director (verbal withdrawals are not accepted) must be given before withdrawing during the school term, and tuition will continue to be due until the end of the 60-day notice. Simply stopping attendance to class does not constitute withdrawal from the studio, and the dancer is still considered enrolled and tuition continues to be due until written 60-day notice is given to the Director from the person(s) responsible for the account payments.
Class Attire
Dancers must follow our dress code. Please refer to the uniform page at the bottom of the packet or on our website. Please have the dancer’s hair pulled back in a bun for class. Please have dancers wear appropriate clothes/warm ups over attire until in the studio.
Tuition
Registration fees are due at the time of registration. Recital fees will be added to the account at registration and are due by December 1st, 2025. Tuition is a yearly fee broken into monthly installments, due on the 1st of each month. On the 10th, accounts not paid will be charged a $25 late fee, and returned checks will incur a $35 fee. As of June 1st, 2024, we are requiring a card to be on your Studio Director account. August tuition is due by the first day of classes, August 11, 2025. All other monthly payments are due and run automatically on the first of each month unless you contact our directors before the 25th of the previous month for any alternate payment methods- cash, check, or venmo(@Madison-Studio). We offer no refunds or deductions for missed classes, but encourage students to make up classes. All fees are non-refundable—credit toward future classes only, and non-transferable between students.
